IND Architects는 2008년 설립 이래로 공공시설, 오피스, 호텔, 비즈니스 센터 및 레스토랑 등 다양한 공간의 프로젝트를 작업해오며 여러 포트폴리오를 갖췄다. 트렌디한 디자인과 감각을 바탕으로 높은 퀄리티의 결과물을 완성해내는 이들이 어떤 환경에서 근무하며 참신한 아이디어를 떠올리는지 알아보기 위해, 모스크바 IND Architects의 사무실을 살펴보았다. IND Architects의 오피스를 설계하면서 디자이너들은 현대적이면서도 창의적이고, 동시에 작업능률을 향상시킬 수 있는 공간을 원했다. 그로인해 IND Architects는 디자이너들과 건축가들이 최대한 작업 중인 프로젝트에 집중할 수 있는 공간으로 꾸미는 데 중점을 두었다.

 

오피스는 모스크바의 ARTPLAY Design Center 내에 위치했고 로프트(Loft) 스타일로 꾸며졌다. 디자이너는 기존 건물의 인더스트리얼 컨셉을 최대한 활용해 일부에는 천고가 높은 공간을 그대로 살리고 천정의 콘크리트 구조를 도장하지 않은 채 그대로 두었다. 직원들을 위한 휴식공간은 다트를 던지거나 테이블 풋볼을 즐기거나 독서 등을 하며 업무 중 잠깐씩 쉴 수 있고, 간단한 미팅을 가지며 업무의 진척 상황에 대해 의견을 공유할 수 있는 곳이다. 둘로 나눈 옷장은 사무실 출입구와 미팅룸 안에 배치했다. 오피스 인테리어에 사용된 베이스 컬러는 회색과 흰색으로, 인포그래픽(Infographics: 지도, 표지판 등 정보를 텍스트가 아닌 시각적으로 표현하는 것)과 같은 디테일은 밝은 노랑색으로 꾸몄다. IND Architects는 ‘건축의 퀄리티를 결정짓는 요소는 디테일에 있다’라고 말하는 만큼 디테일에 주목하는 디자인 스튜디오로, 그들의 철학이 드러나는 사무공간에도 포인트가 되는 요소와 디테일 등이 눈에 띈다.

 

IND Architects의 설립 이래로 많은 작업을 진행해왔던 그들의 스타일과 아이덴티티가 바로 그들의 사무공간인 이곳에 반영됐다. 오피스는 두 공간으로 나뉜다. 하나는 두 층 높이의 디자이너를 위한 사무공간이고, 또 하나는 건축가들을 위한 2층의 아늑한 공간이다. 2층의 건축가들을 위한 공간은 벽에 작업 중인 프로젝트들의 사진이나 도면 등을 붙일 수 있도록 했다. 두 개의 오픈된 공간 외에도 접수 공간, 미팅룸, 탕비실, 휴게실 등이 1층에 자리해 있다.

 

When working on the project of IND Architects office, we entrusted ourselves with the task to create a contemporary creative space with a minimum of distracting elements, so that designers and architects could focus on their projects as much as possible. The office has become a business card and a reflection of the studio which has implemented a number of projects over five years of its existence. The office has been arranged in ARTPLAY Design Center and has been decorated in the loft style. Designers have shown the benefits of a former industrial premise to their best advantage — they have kept the double-floor height area in some places, have deliberately left the concrete ceiling panels unpainted and have retained the original concrete structure - like timber shutter texture on the first floor and ceiling panels on the second floor. Exposed black-colored utilities accentuate the industrial past of the building and form a contrast to white walls of the office. The office has been divided into two zones — one is a volumetric double-floor height area for designers and another one is a cozy space on the second floor for architects. The walls of the latter one are used for attaching the pictures and drawings of studio’s current projects. In addition to two open space zones, a reception zone, a meeting room, and a coffee-point have been arranged on the first floor; an office, a leisure area, and an open meeting room for the staff may be found on the second floor. Two or three person meetings may also be held at a round table in the first-floor open space. Two separate wardrobes have been arranged for the staff and guests – one is at the entrance and another one is at the meeting room. Grey and white are basic interior colors. Bright yellow details – such as infographics, a creatively different full-wall unicorn in the first-floor open space, and small items, like flower cache-pots, desk folders, and décor details - stand out sharply against quiet shades. The infographics had been developed as a part of a new corporate style of IND Architects and was patterned by the studio’s architects. In the leisure area, the employees may catch a break in a work process and talk about their goings, interesting projects and news while playing darts or foosball or read an interesting book nestling themselves down on a convenient pouf.
